#11 - "The 5th Phase of Irregular Cycles, and Natural Contraception through Fertility Awareness with

Updated: Sep 16, 2021

In this episode I chat with Nathalie Daudet - a certified fertility awareness educator, social worker and menstrual cycle coach. She discovered fertility awareness after searching high and low for a non-hormonal method of birth control. After learning the magic of fertility awareness and the gift of body literacy, she decided to pursue formal fertility awareness training and Fertility Awareness Project was born.

Nat is passionate about showing people they can be responsible AND not be taking hormonal birth control, by learning how to masterfully pinpoint your fertile and infertile windows in your own menstrual cycle.

Furthermore, Nat has long and irregular menstrual cycles, and she shares openly and generously what this feels like to her, and how she has identified a 5th season of the cycle when your cycles are regularly over 50 days long. By illuminating this 5th season, Nat has learnt self-care tools and practices that support her to feel connected to herself, her body and her cycle, when she feels emotionally and mentally checked out of cycle tracking her long cycles.

Natalie and I spoke about

Both of our experiences with long and irregular cycles, and the different reasons we are experiencing this.

Busting the myth of the 28 day textbook cycle and how this 'perfect' cycle is harmful to all.

How Nat supports herself to feel connected, grounded, and well with her lengthy cycles.

What FAM is and is not - and how it has helped her, me, and all the women Nat supports to have an empowered choice beyond hormonal contraceptive options that may not feel to be a good choice for you.

The difference between Fertility Awareness cycle charting and Menstrual Cycle Awareness charting and how Nat weaves the two together.
